Postcard, Fat Flour, 2018
Jacqueline Flavio and Studio at 620
The Studio presents "Fat Flour," an exhibit by emerging contemporary artist Jacqueline Flavio. Jacqueline's work is comprised of large paintings inspired by her method of collage. The subject matter reveals her apparent love for the natural world but also serves as a contemporary on the painted image itself. By dissecting and manipulating space, objectifying the very idea of 'natural things,' viewers are asked to question the meaning of natural as it is translated into something seemingly artificial; relying on color to sustain life.

Eyes on Africa's Endangered
Studio at 620 and Jami Compton
“Eyes on Africa’s Endangered”, by Jami Compton, is the latest art exhibition in The Studio's ongoing Emerging Artist Series. Jami's paintings speak to her love of both art and wildlife. Come take a walk on the wild side during the opening reception on Friday January 16th from 6-9 PM. Artwork will remain on display thru January 24, 2015. “I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. I was also born with a tremendous love for all living creatures. Or as David Attenborough would put it, “I’m intoxicated by animals.” Many African animals are in danger of extinction. Their populations are plummeting, mainly from poaching and habitat loss. This is not something I can ignore. The possibility that these incredible creatures would not be around for my children, or their children to encounter, gave me nightmares. I painted these species on large canvases and zoomed in. I wanted to give people a chance to make eye contact with these wild animals. Out of sight, out of mind isn’t an option anymore. Lock eyes and feel love for these creatures, after all, they’re the real natives." —Jami Compton
