Abstract
Chicago cartoonist and writer Nicole Hollander (creator of the syndicated comic strip ”Sylvia”) will lead a master class graphic memoir style workshop called “In the Old Neighborhood” at The Studio@620 on Thursday January 22 from 11 AM - 3 PM. Participants will be asked to brainstorm and write briefly about memories and recall anecdotes and reflections from their own personal ’old neighborhood’ which they will then illustrate with basic drawing techniques. The class size is limited to 20 people and is free to attend. Paper and drawing supplies will be supplied but participants are also welcome to bring their own art supplies with them if desired. A reception to display the finished drawings with Nicole and the other class participants will be held the following evening, Friday January 23 from 6-9 PM. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public. To reserve a space as a participant in the workshop call 727-895-6620.
