Abstract

Join The Studio@620 in an effort to raise awareness and understanding of Pediatric HIV. "Growing Up Positive: Young People and HIV" is a film exploring the social implications faced by young Americans either born with HIV or who have acquired it as adolescents or young adults. Filmmaker Kristy Andersen and Psychologist Dr. Tiffany Cheneville from USFSP have interviewed those who have endured lives of prejudice, misinformation, social stigma, and death of their loved ones, yet still have hope. A panel of community leaders and physicians along with young people affected by pediatric HIV will participate in a discussion and Q&A session following the screening of a portion of the film. Admission to the screening and discussion is free and open to the public. Donations to assist in funding completion of the film will be accepted during the event.
