An avid world traveler, Leslie understands that the meaning of life lies in the journey. “Everything I do creatively is an expression of love or appreciation. Photography enables me to picture the world just as I wish to. I am attracted to lines, angles, shadows, reflections and creating my own shapes. I derive pleasure from looking at things that are often overlooked—the random, seedy, ugly scenes—and celebrating them through my lens as compelling, even beautiful.” Leslie is also the founder of VERTICAL Tampa Bay magazine.

Rootworker
Studio at 620 and Coralette Damme
A solo exhibition by Coralette Damme Since her debut exhibition at The Studio in 2013, Coralette has continued to develop her skills as an artist/printmaker. The works in this show will highlight her linoleum block prints with some additional surprises mixed in. “ROOTWORKER” is a reflection on the study or origins. Coralette’s interest in her Germanic heritage has led her down paths researching folk lore and folk beliefs, and the resulting spirit of intention that is found where these paths intersect. I have noticed that things I feel on an intuitive level have roots in ancient systems of belief and story telling. I’ve created these new images to illustrate and pay homage to those concepts. —Coralette Damme

Rose Marie Prins: Sanctuary, East and West
Studio at 620 and Rose Marie Prins
For many artists, nature is both sanctuary and inspiration. This exhibition of artwork by Rose Marie Prins has been inspired by her passion for nature and her observations and experiences visiting places as near as Florida’s freshwater springs and as far as India’s Yamuna River. Prins creates visual meditations on the condition and meaning of our aquatic treasures. These places of sanctuary are threatened by pollution and yet nature finds ways to persevere. Viewers are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about Earth’s waterways, once pristine sanctuaries, as well as share observations of signs, however small, of hope and ingenuity.
