Abstract
by Colleen Johnson Directed by Christopher Rutherford Time changes things-people, perspective, relationships... Gladiola explores the role of marriage in society — whether marriage is necessary to have a fully integrated life and whether an unhappy marriage is preferable to none at all. The main character must decide what is more valuable to him, a supportive and caring friendship or a damaged romantic relationship. His grown children face their own struggles as a result of the sudden instability of their parents’ 30-year marriage. After a successful reading of the play in 2017, we now present the first fully staged production of this work by local writer Colleen Johnson.
