Note
The image shows the ruins of the Karnak Temple Complex near Luxor in Upper Egypt. This features a monumental stone gateway alongside distinctive papyrus-capital columns. It was dedicated mainly to the god Amun-Re, as well as Mut and Khonsu. It was enveloped over 2,000 years during the Middle and New Kingdoms, involving contributions from 30 pharaohs. The massive battered stone towers and portals have served as sacred entrances to different sections of the complex. In front of the gateway stand two prominent sandstone columns featuring composite floral capitals, remnants of subsequent building phases from the Ptolemaic period.
