Note
The Palace Drug Store, located at the corner of Scott Street and Central Avenue in Tampa, Florida, was owned by Isaac Gardner, a Black businessman. It had a pharmacy, soda fountain, and a sundry shop within it. Gardner would go on to own several businesses and hotels on the Central Avenue corridor, a main gathering place for the Black residents of Tampa. The Central Avenue area was razed first for a public housing development called Central Park Village in the 1950s, and then again to build I-275 in the 1960s.
