Note

Walter Tison launched WALT-AM in 1946. The call numbers were based on Tison's first name WALTer. In the late 1950s, WALT played a mixture of music to a small audience. It switched to a Top 40 format in 1958. The station went through several sales and now exists as WTIS-AM, a religious radio station.
