Abstract

We were sitting in a coffee shop of a Bulgarian town, when Sofka, a female Romani participant in my research, suddenly lowered her voice: “I have a secret to tell you, my friend,” she whispered, “My twelve-year old granddaughter was kidnapped for marriage the other day. Thank God, we managed to get her back but I am afraid for her safety.”
