Sulphur Springs Community Archive
From the late 19th century through the 1940s, Sulphur Springs flourished as a nationally recognized tourist destination, celebrated for its mineral-rich spring waters. This once-independent community—annexed by the City of Tampa in 1953—boasted a distinctive shopping arcade and hotel, a 40-foot water slide, and even an alligator farm, drawing visitors from across the country.
The Sulphur Springs Community Archive collects materials from across the repository, including archival records and scholarly research, to document the area's vibrant history and evolving identity. This collection offers a window into the social, cultural, and environmental forces that shaped one of Tampa’s most unique neighborhoods.
