Abstract
The holistic doctoral experience reflects and acknowledges a doctoral program that supports a balance of student research focused autonomy and support structures. At the same time, the student recognizes the need for support that is integrated from both within the program and from the individual student relationships that influence and build persistence. This holistic experience is not necessarily known as a student begins a PhD program, but rather emerges in understanding as the doctoral journey unfolds.
