Note

This kore was discovered in 1888 to the southwest of the Parthenon and reassembled from four fragments. Her head, right hand, portions of the hair, and the folds on her right thigh were constructed from different blocks of marble. Clothing is consisted of layers with three different garments once decorated with pigmented-painted motifs. Underneath is the long chiton and over that is a short himation that passes under her left arm while secured on her right with small buttons. An epiblema, similar to a shawl, falls over her shoulders and back and drapes over her right hand. The kore would have held out an offering to the goddess, while with her other hand she would have pulled her chiton aside to aid her step, as indicated by the folds on the lower portion of the garment. Her hair is typical of an Archaic kore, as it falls down her back with three curls framing her face and continuing down to her chest. Traces of pigment, like brown and red, are seen in the hair. Black paint was utilized to emphasize her eyebrows, contour of her eyes, and pupils. Her ears have circular earrings with painted rosettes and a relief bracelet on her wrist. Atop her head, she wears a stephane decorated with palmettes, spirals, and lotus flowers. This object is currently housed in the Acropolis Museum, Athens, Greece.
