Note

This relief was featured on the base of a Kourou statue, which often included decorated low-reliefs depicting athletic training, sessions, games, and leisure activities. It was discovered in 1922 built into the Themistoclean Wall. There are three sides of the base, with this being the left side. This shows six naked athletes in a scene that is believed to be a team game involving a ball, called episkyros. They are in dynamic positioning, indicating preparing to throw or catch the ball. The object is currently held in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece.
