Note

This features a young man depicted as marble relief plaque with a voluted top that resembles Ionic capitals. It measures 1 meter in height and 0.75 meter wide. The subject is adorned in an Attic helmet that indicates his miliary status. The hair is arranged in cord-like locks that cascade over his cheeks and shoulders. Both fists are clenched in front of his chest, with thumbs pointing upward. The subject may allude to hoplitodromos, which was an ancient foot race where competitors ran wearing full hoplite armor, combining athletic and military training. This object was likely part of a funerary monument or public monument to commemorate a fallen warrior. The lower right corner is broken. This object is currently held at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, Greece.
