Note

This is a Roman copy of a Greek original dating to the late 5th century BCE. The original version was by Pyrrhos of the school of Pheidias. The helmet atop her head is inspired by the one worn by Athena Parthenos from the Parthenon. This statue stands at 2.24 meters in height. Her arms have been restored, as well as her helmet and cheekpieces. Athena is holding a spear in her left hand with her right one extended out from her body. She is wearing a helmet that is decorated with beasts, as well as a floor-length robe. On her chest is a serpent-trimmed aegis cloaks featuring the head of Medusa. This statue is currently housed at the Naples National Archaeological Museum, Italy.
