Note

This is an Ionic Greek temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. It housed the statue of Athena Polias. This building is unique in the corpus of Greek temples with its asymmetrical composition does not conform to the canon of Greek classical architecture. The temple faces east and its entrance is lined with six Ionic columns. Its post-classical history and change of function, damages, and spoliation has made this a problematic site in archaeology, with the precise nature and location of religious and architectural elements from the building remaining the subject of debate.
