Cat. 20 recto: Woodblock (9 x 12) depicting the queen of fools underneath a tent surrounded by six men. Woodblock (2 x 12) with undulating vine motif. verso: Single column of text in black, 30 lines. Cat. 21 recto: Woodblock (9 x 12) depicting two fools with another figure pointing a finger disapprovingly. Woodblock (2 x 12) with undulating vine motif. verso: Single column of text in black, 30 l ines.

Text in Latin. Original image found in: Sacred leaves beyond the quill ... printed books, 1450 - 1500. Printed by Johann Bergmann von Olpe, Basel, Switzerland. Text identification:The stultifera navis (ship of fools) was written by Sebastian Brant (1458-1521) in 1494. It is a didactic satire that narrates the journey of 112 fools to the paradise of fools, "narragonia". Items in this collection are only available online; we do not have physical copies of these items in the USF Library's Special Collections. The original items were returned to the donor.
