Our faculty is composed of scientists and educators with diverse training backgrounds and expertise in pharmacology, physiology, neuroscience, systems molecular cellular biology and general medical sciences. We strive to fulfill the education mission of USF Morsani College of Medicine by designing and delivering high quality courses for the undergraduate medical curriculum (M.D. degree), graduate programs (Ph.D. and master’s degrees), and postdoctoral training. We provide extraordinary learning experiences for our students and trainees with the goal to prepare them for an ever-challenging professional career in medicine or biomedical research.
We conduct basic and translational research to decipher the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control human body function in normal and diseased conditions, aimed at discovering novel diagnostic or therapeutic targets for advanced treatment of disease. Our research expertise includes:
- Heart, Lung, Blood Disease and Injury
- Cardiac Excitability and Arrhythmias
- Microcirculation, Angiogenesis and Vascular Regeneration
- Lymphatic Biology and Lymphedema
- Extracellular Matrix Molecular Biology
- Renal Pathophysiology and Hypertension
- Respiratory Physiology and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
- Computational Modeling and Systems Biology
- Sensory Neurophysiology, Visceral Pain
- Metabolic Disorders, Obesity, and Diabetes
- Neurodegenerative Diseases, Alzheimer's Disease, Angelman Syndrome
- Traumatic Brain Injury and Blood-Brain-Barrier Regulation
