    4th Armored Division Liberator Technical Sergeant Uniform

    A uniform of a technical sergeant part of the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion in the 4th Armored Division, that spearheaded General Patton’s Third Army in the European theater of World War II. From 1941 to the end of the conflict, the soldiers of the 4th fought in France and Belgium where their intervention was critical to defeat the Germans at Bastogne. After crossing the Main river and advancing into Germany, on April 4th 1945, the 4th Armored Division liberated the forced labor and concentration camp of Ohrdruf in Gotha (Thuringia), the first Nazi camp ever liberated by U.S. troops.

    An armband for a member of the Jewish Council of Elders in the neighborhood ghetto of Vilijampolė, Lithuania. Today, Vilijampolė is part of the city of Kaunas. It held the Kovno Ghetto from 1941 to 1943 and the Kaunen concentration camp from 1943 to 1944.

    A knife introduced to the Hitler Youth in 1933. It has the words "Blut und Ehre" (Blood and Honor) etched onto the blade. The etching places this knife as manufactured between 1933 and 1938. This particular knife was manufactured by Paul Seilheimer, Solingen, as indicated by the M7/38 designation.

    Since September 9, 1943, the 141st Infantry Regiment experienced 361 days of combat 137 days in Italy, 204 days in France, 17 days in Germany and 4 days in Austria. The Regiment sustained more than 6,000 casualties in World War II, including 1,126 killed, approximately 5,000 wounded and over 500 missing in action. This was Pvt. Leon Heller's hat.
