Abstract
This octagon-shaped space is located between the walls of the eastern aqueduct and the east wall of the apsidal hall (41). Its proximity to the south main apartment and the triclinium (57) suggests that it was usually used by the dominus and his family, and by guests on special occasions such as banquets. A sewer, located just over a meter from the entrance, was used for the disposal of water. A well-kept water supply system also reached the basin placed at the foot of the wall located to the right of the door. It is decorated with bas-reliefs of acanthus leaves and inlays with a plant motif. The floor mosaic depicts a succession of white mosaic tiles outlines on a dark field. The shape of a large podded kantharos is en. The shoots open symmetrically across the floor’s surface.

Alt Text
A three-dimensional model of a small, stone, octagonal room with a blue and white tile mosaic decorating its floor. The room consists of two different octagonal sections: the smaller, central octagon with the tile mosaic floor and a half-wall is surrounded by a gapped space in the floor that is itself surrounded by a second, octagon-shaped wall. The location of a drain at the center of the tiled octagon implies this room used water in some way, so the gap between the two walls may have been used to store water or move sewage. The mosaic's design has a floral or plant theme, though some of the tiles have broken or eroded away. The 3D model can be freely moved, rotated, and zoomed in and out, allowing the viewer to inspect the object with greater detail and from multiple different angles.
