Abstract
The purpose of the proposed research is to examine the concentration of total Pb, As, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cu, Ni, SC, V, Cr, Al, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ca, Na, K, and Ti in selected soils throughout the state. Several key soil suborders were selected for soil profile description and sampling in the field. The suborders of special concern were the Psamments, Aquents, Udalfs, Aqualfs, Saprists, Hemists, Aquepts, Udolls, Aquolls, Humods, Aquods, Aquults, and Udults. These soil suborders constitute a majority of the area covered by soils throughout the state. One field sampling site for each soil suborder was selected in as pristine of an area as possible throughout the state. Individual horizons were sampled for metal analysis.
