La Gaceta Archive - Images
Founded in 1922 by former cigar factory lector (reader) Victoriano Manteiga, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Italian) newspaper La Gaceta was created for Tampa's mixture of "Latins": Cuban, Spanish, and Sicililan. Known over the years for political and historical content as well as well-connected, sharp-witted gossip, it is the oldest trilingual newspaper in the United States. For anyone interested in the history of Tampa's immigrant community, La Gaceta is an important resource.
USF is the repository for La Gaceta, including this collection of photographs from the newspaper's.
