Abstract
Harold "Archie" Dunbar was a sergeant in the 42nd Infantry Division, which liberated Dachau on April 29, 1945. In this interview, he describes some of his experiences during the Battle of the Bulge and leading up to the discovery of Dachau. Dunbar was at Dachau for about an hour before he had to move on with his division to Munich. After the war, he was stationed at Camp Marcus W. Orr, a prisoner of war camp near Salzburg, before coming home in late 1945.
