Abstract
This dataset contains total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (TPAH) concentrations of south Louisiana crude oil in sediment and tissue of field-collected red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) and southern flounder (Paralichthys lethostigma) in the Gulf of Mexico from 2018-08-13 to 2018-08-16.
Purpose
Field study to evaluate the TPAH concentrations of south Louisiana crude oil in sediment and tissue of field collected red drum and southern flounder.

Sample Key: Collected Date (MM/DD/YYYY); Collected Location; Collected Time (hh:mm:ss); Field ID; MML; Matrix; Organism Species; Coordinates (degree N, degree W). Please note that column I (Fin Clip) in a worksheet "Sample Key" is a redundant field note and can be ignored. Liver Results: Species; Location, MML; Field ID; PAH Analytes; MDL (ng/g ww); ΣPAH (ng/g ww) Sediment Results: Location, MML; Field ID; PAH Analytes; MDL (ng/g); ΣPAH (ng/g) % Lipid: MML; Field ID; Matrix; % Lipid; Species Note: MML= Mote Marine Laboratory and MDL= Minimum Detectable Limit Nomenclature for sample IDs example: "CII-15-0000" means "Three-letter laboratory project code(CII=CIMAGE-II)-two digit year(2015=15)-four digit integral assigned by laboratory beginning at 0000 for each new year(0000 through 9999)".|Tissue samples were surrogated with naphthalene d8, acenaphthene d10, phenanthrene-d10, chrysene-d12, perylene d12 and extracted via EPA method 3545 using a Dionex ASE300, then concentrated to 10ml in DCM for analysis. Water samples were surrogated with naphthalene d8, acenaphthene d10, phenanthrene-d10, chrysene-d12, perylene d12 and extracted via EPA method 3510, and concentrated to 1mL in DCM for analysis. PAHs were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry in selected ion monitoring mode using a 0.25 um film thickness, 0.25 mm I.D., and 30 m length capillary column. One microliter of the sample was injected at 60ºC, held for 1.5 minutes. The temperature was then increased to 325 ºC at a rate of 8 ºC/ min and held for 3 min.|Dionex ASE300 Accelerated Solvent Extractor, Agilent 7890A/5975C, Zebron Capillary column.||Average surrogate recovery 50-150. CCV run before and after every ten samples. CCV passing recovery must be average less than 20%. CCV means Continued Calibration Verification.|
