Abstract
This dataset contains sediment core photographs collected aboard R/V Weatherbird II cruise WB-0816 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2016-08-05 to 2016-09-09. Sediment cores were longitudinally split and photographed with a Nikon D5100 digital camera with a scale in metric units (cm and mm) for a visual representation of sediment stratigraphy, color, and visual properties. The dataset contains an excel spreadsheet with the photograph filename, core ID, date, location and depth of sediment core collection. Cruise documentation was provided for cruise WB-0816. The cruise was led by Dr. Steve Murawski. Other bulk density/porewater data from sediment cores collected during this cruise are available under GRIIDC UDI R4.x267.000:0007.
