Abstract
In the fifth installment of this oral history, Cliff Gibbons reflects on moments in his father’s political career and the broader political landscape during the Nixon presidency. He shares insights into his father’s 1968 campaign for the Florida State House of Representatives and describes his father’s close relationships with President John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. Cliff highlights issues his father addressed on the Ways and Means Committee, including tax reform, Medicare, and overseas trade policies. Throughout the interview, he spoke of his father's commitment to ensuring fair and equitable trade practices.
