Abstract
Cliff Gibbons reflects on his father's legacy and impact on the Ways and Means Committee during the Nixon era. He recalls a Congressional trip to the Colorado River, where he formed close bonds with the children of other senators while his father, Sam Gibbons, and other lawmakers gathered information on Western water rights. Cliff also highlights moments in the 1970s steel trade between the U.S. and Japan. Additionally, he discusses their efforts to preserve Carlouel, Caladesi, and Honeymoon Island from development, underscoring their commitment to environmental conservation.
