Abstract
In this third installment of Cliff Gibbons recollections, Gibbons discusses his fathers’ relationships between other U.S. Senators. Cliff Gibbons recalls controversies and scandals on the senate floor that took place during his father’s tenure that informed professionalism and laws. He brings up the qualifications of the Civil Rights Act and Judge Smith, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and the Vietnam war, committees that served to support Lyndon B. Johnsons Great Society agenda, and Clayton Powell’s discharge petition.
