Abstract

This gas pump sits beside the commissary at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm site in Archery (outside Plains), Georgia, part of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park. This is a visible hand crank gas pump dating to the c.1930. The Carter family sold dry goods and food items in their commissary and operated a fuel stop at their farm along the Old Plains Highway. This model is a part of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park 3D Architecture Collection. This feature's 3D documentation is part of a virtual tour and 3D archive of Jimmy Carter National Historical Park, a collaborative program between USF's Center for Digital Heritage and Geospatial Information, the National Park Service, and the Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historic Site.

Alt Text

A three-dimensional model of a green, hand-crank gasoline pump set against a still image of other gas pumps from the 1880s to the 1940s or 1950s, allowing for comparison in the design and construction between the model and similar gasoline pumps of other eras. The 3D model has a black tube with a gold or bronze-colored fuel nozzle and the body of the pump is painted in a dark, forest green. To the immediate right of the nozzle is a level with a black handle that was used to move the fuel by hand. The model can be rotated, moved, and zoomed in and out to allow for viewing of additional details at multiple angles.
