Description
Both researchers and commercial interests recognize that creativity and innovation need to be more formally developed and cultivated in the workplace. As a university who is directly responsible for providing capable graduates to our region, it is imperative that awareness for the development of creative skills is necessary. Creative problem solving is a desired skill set that American businesses are utilizing to find suitable solutions for current challenges. Along with creative insights and the ability to produce new and innovative ideas, our graduates must have the experience and tools necessary to apply creativity in a critical way. This interactive session will lead participants towards defining, understanding, and operationalizing creativity. Information and activities will lead participants towards using creativity and activities to enhance creative thinking in the classroom and in their own professional practices. Activities will be holistic and help activate right-brain thinking. In addition, activities will promote divergent thinking and utilize mind-mapping strategies to help participants expand their creative thinking. Participants will not only be informed about the best practices for fostering creativity, but they will experience their own creative transformation through the several exercises utilized in the workshop.
