Abstract
Veteran actor Mark Chambers brings Truman Capote back to life in this one man play directed by Lisa Tricomi. Adapted from the words and works of Truman Capote, Tru takes place in the writer’s New York City apartment during the week before Christmas 1975. An excerpt from Capote’s infamous novel Answered Prayers has recently been published in Esquire and the author’s friends have turned their back on him. Alone and hurting, Capote soothes himself with pills, alcohol, and chocolate truffl es while musing about his checkered life and career. The Naples Daily News had this to say about Mark’s performance of Tru at The Florida Repertory Theatre: “Mark Chambers serves it up–stylish, fascinating and full of wit and verve. He vamps, he twirls, he sashays, he prances through the “front hall” to accept deliveries–in short, he becomes Capote...Much like the mercurial subject–the show‘s emotional mood turns on a dime. Chambers delivers perfectly time and time and again.” We are lucky to have this opportunity for a reprise performance. Don't miss it!
