Abstract

A one-act muscial comedy consisting of song and prose. The play follows Elisa and Rafael, an acting couple seeking success. They encounter Mrs. Gertrudis, a woman who detests comedy and looks down upon performers as beggars and thieves.
First debuted at Martin Theater on February 16, 1889. Performed in Tampa on April 8, 1915.
