Abstract
This is an oral history interview with Chief Philip Asiodu, the Izoma of Asaba, Nigeria. Chief Asiodu briefly describes his education and career in Nigeria's Foreign Service and Civil Service; he has held a number of positions in the Nigerian federal government, including Minister of Petroleum. He discusses the events leading up to the Asaba Massacre, a mass killing of civilians which occurred in 1967 during the Nigerian Civil War, and describes his memories of that event. Chief Asiodu's brother, Sydney Bialosa Asiodu, was one of the people killed in the massacre.
