Abstract
Dorothea Williams and Walter Moore share their connections to the Zion Cemetery through Henry Williams, Dorothea’s great-grandfather. As well through Walter’s mother (Curly Bell Moore) who was married to Charles Williams, the son of Henry Williams. They discuss the destruction of Zion Cemetery for the building of a housing complex as well as the broader issue of erasure and desecration of African American cemeteries across the United States. Both emphasize the importance of honoring burial grounds and preserving family histories. Their interview also helps link Tampa to the history of African American communities in Brooksville, Florida.
