Abstract
Dr. Gary Mormino stands before a photographic mural at the Ybor City State Museum while discussing the operations of cigar factories in Ybor City. Dr. Mormino explains the role of "el lector," the reader hired and paid by the factory workers to read newspapers and books to them while they worked.
