Abstract

This is an oral history interview with Nick Nuccio, who served two terms as mayor of Tampa, Florida from 1956-1959 and 1963-1967. In this interview, Nuccio describes his background and political career. The interview begins with a discussion about his parents, who emigrated from Italy and worked in Ybor City's cigar factories. Mr. Nuccio describes his childhood in Ybor City and the Italian-American community. The interview continues with a long discussion of Mr. Nuccio's entry into politics, and his time as city councilor, county commissioner, and mayor. Mr. Nuccio also describes some of his projects and other things he did while in office.
