Abstract

Hurricane Ian made landfall on the western coast of Florida near Cayo Costa on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Amounting to 148 deaths, it became one of the deadliest hurricanes to hit the state. The primary focus of this study is to better understand the major concern among residents to prepare for future hurricanes seasons - by determining the primary concern factor that influences members of an at-risk community to leave their residence. The major risks will be identified by comparison of Hillsborough, Pinellas, and various counties of Southwest Florida as a whole.
