Abstract
Using a mixed methods approach, both census data of six selected census tracks in Hillsborough County and interviews with community stakeholders were employed to determine the vulnerability and what current actions are being taken to improve the situation. The vulnerability of these communities was compared to their superfund site proximity to examine the correlation. A correlation exists in the selected census tracts between higher percentages on indicators of vulnerability and distance from both superfund and hazardous waste sites.
