Abstract
Ground was broken for a new library on the St. Petersburg campus June 15, 1978. Among those in attendance was Nelson Poynter, the "St. Petersburg Times" editor and publisher who was a major backer of USF St. Petersburg. Poynter died shortly after the ceremony, and the new library is named the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library.
