Abstract

Donn Smith, the dean of the new College of Medicine at USF, organized an informal groundbreaking for the College's construction before the official ceremony. He invited the medical faculty to gather at 6 a.m. and each turn a shovelful of dirt. The exact date that this photograph was taken is unknown.
