Abstract
The Florida Legislative Investigation Committee was a committee of the Florida State Senate that investigated allegations of Communism and homosexuality in universities and other public institutions in the early 1960s. USF was one of the targets. It was more commonly known as the Johns Committee, named for its chairman, Charley Johns (standing in photo). Pictured on the right is C.W. Bill Young, then a State Senator from St. Petersburg, and later a U.S. Congressman.
