Abstract
Dr. Bettina Tucker speaks to Stephanie de Silva about her time with the Department of Communication and Disorders (CSD) both as a student and as an adjunct instructor. Tucker remembers that when she began her program, USF was sandy, barren and had very few buildings; the library and the Marshall Center had not yet been built. The audiology department facilities were located off campus in a building referred to by students and professors as “Mildew Manor.” Tucker speaks about the changes she has witnessed in the program at USF and the field itself such as audiologists dispensing hearing aids. The interview concludes with Tucker expressing her appreciation for the enrichment USF and the CSD program has had in her life. She has established a scholarship for USF audiology students in order to give back to the university and to help current the CSD students.
