The Department of Surgery at the Morsani College of Medicine is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in surgical sciences and to the advancement of patient care through surgical education and meaningful research.
Our surgeons are dedicated to the training of our future doctors. This is reflected in a surgical culture build on world class patient care, intentional mentorship, and purposeful research that translates to real world change.
The cornerstone of our training program our high clinical volume that stretches across the surgical specialties of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Trauma. Our fellows and residents (surgeons in training) are proficient in the tenants of robotics, minimally invasive, and open surgery. The mission of our department is to both train a well-rounded surgeon, while also cultivating the surgical leaders of tomorrow.
