Abstract

Oral history interview with Emma Hewlett Rivers and Dorothy Richmond Hewlett, longtime residents of Sulphur Springs. Rivers and Hewlett are sisters-in-law, the latter having married the former's brother. Hewlett's father was a grocery store meat cutter, while Rivers' was a mechanic who owned a gas station. Both women married men from Sulphur Springs and raised their children in the neighborhood. In this interview, they describes the social life and customs of Sulphur Springs, including recreational activities, education, local businesses, food and drink, going to church, and friends.
