The Communist leader coined the phrase "no pasarán" (they shall not pass) during the defense of Madrid against the Nationalist offensive in Nov. 1936. The image was used on postcards sold by members of the Democratic Popular Committee to Aid Spain to raise funds for the Republican cause in Spain.
