Abstract
Children posing in costumes at one of the picnics organized by the Democratic Popular Committee to Aid Spain in La Columna Park in West Tampa. Those in front are dressed as milicianos (miltia). Behind them, young women wear sashes with the colors of the Spanish Republican flag, which is being held at the left of the picture. The banner held on the right honors Francisca Solana, one of the first women soldiers killed in the Spanish Civil War.
