Note

This building is one of the earliest lasting examples of a Roman temple which can be linked to the imperial worship of Roman provinces, in this case Nemausus, or modern day Nîmes. It is a testament to the era of Rome's transition from a republic to an empire, reflecting the imperial ideologies within the political system during the consolidation of territory. This is a Pseudoperipteral temple, where only the pronaos, or front, columns stand free, while the lateral and rear columns of the cella are engaged in the walls.
