Note

This kore was discovered east of the Erechtheion in 1887. The subject is missing her head and segments of her limbs. She is adorned in three garments with a long chiton underneath, topped by a short himation secured on the right with small relief buttons, and finally a epiblema that falls symmetrically over the right arm. Her garments are richly decorated with rosettes, meanders, spirals, bands with crosses, lines, and other patterns. The original paints have oxidized today. In her right hand, she would have held out an offering to the goddess while in her left she likely pulled aside her chiton to facilitate her step. Her hair falls on her back in smooth waves with her face framed by four locks on each side that spill to the front and cover her breasts. The holes on her bosom were utilized for attaching individually carved locks of hair. The reddish color was likely an undercoat under which the final coat would have been applied. This object is currently held at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece.
