Note

This head of a kore statue has been mended together, two fragments, with a broken back. Since it is constructed of two types of marble, it was most likely the result of an ancient repair. The upper part, worked in a separate piece of marble, was restored during antiquity. The facial features with a soft facial rendering, low gaze, and slightly upturned lips make this Kore one of the most expressive from the Acropolis. The elaborate hairstyle and stephane were adorned with metal ornament that fit into the drills. The hole on the top of the head fitted a meniskos. The right ear, also worked from a separate piece of marble, is placed askew and high on the head. Color traces can be seen on the face, hair, and stephane. This object is currently held at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece.
