Note

This is part of a roof-gutter from the right corner of the roof of the Old Temple of Athena at the Acropolis, Athens, Greece. The horizontal side features a carved lion's head spout, with water draining from the animal's mouth. The head was rendered with elaborate detail and pigmented. Blue for the mane, yellow on the ears, brown for the eye's and red for the mouth. To the left side of the lion is a painted palmette with blue petals. The slanting front side of the roof-gutter, found under the pediment, was decorated with an intricate design of palmettes, lotus flowers, and spirals accentuated with red and blue, with only the trade visible today. Some attribute this as a late work of the Rampin Master, who also crafted the "Ramplin Rider" and the "Peplos Kore". This object is currently held at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece.
